Topples are where rocks pivot and fall away from a slope.

Who is at fault?

The Gulf Oil Spill was a big tragedy, and I think a lot of people are at fault for the Gulf Oil Spill. I think that mostly the people who work for and with BP are at fault because they did something wrong and they were the ones operating the machinery. I also think that everyone is at fault. We are the ones who use the oil BP is producing. We are the ones who demand more and more. The people who are at fault the most should be punished, but not severely because everyone is at fault. I think the spill is enough of a punishment because it cost us a lot of time, money and trouble to clean up which I think, is just as bad as any other punishment. So, that is who I think is at fault and how they should be punished.

Petroleum

• How is it formed?

• Petroleum is  composed of  a complicated mix of hydrocarbons and organic compounds that are found beneath the Earth's surface.
• It is naturally forming, it forms from old fossils. Higher temperatures usually produce lighter petroleum.

Dante's Peak

Things that were not possible:
1.When the kids and Grandma Ruth were walking through the ash fall they would have been suffocated or at least have more ash covering their bodies.
2. The lava flow would have come down faster when they were on the mountain.
3.Most people are not able to escape the pyro clastic cloud, but they were probably just because they were the stars of the movie and they shouldn't die because the movie would be less interesting.
4.It would have been very difficult to drive through a lahar

Things that were possible:
1. Lava can break through hotsprings
2.You can tell a volcano is going to erupt when trees and animals die.
3. The towns water can turn acidic.

Fossil Homework 9/20/10

I think this fossil is an original remain because it looks as though it is unchanged, it also looked like it was preserved in amber which would mean that it was not replaced by other molecules.

I think the shell is a Cast or Mold because I don't think that it's cells were replaced by others overtime. I think something surrounded it and encased it in stone so it became a mold.

Youngest:

I think 3 is the youngest because intrusions are younger than the layers of rock they cut through and it cuts through the top layer of rock which is the youngest.

I think 1 is the second youngest because it is the top layer of rock, which according to the laws of superposition means it is the youngest.

I think 6 is the next youngest because it is second closest to the top of the rock formation.

Then I think it is 5 because it is next closest to the top.

Then it is 4 because it is under five but not quite at the bottom.

Last is 2 because it reaches the bottom of the rock formation which makes it the oldest.
